About Us

Salt & Soul Villa is a place born from the heart, in the very center of the Sovata resort—a quiet refuge for those who want to unplug, even for a few days, from the everyday bustle. We drew inspiration from the spirit of the Salt Region: from the salt mountains, the clean air, the peaceful mornings, and the love we put into our work day after day.

We have eight rooms, including more spacious ones equipped with sofas, so every guest can find the right comfort. The rooms are simple, close to nature, yet welcoming and warm.

We don’t align ourselves with the rushed rhythm of the world, but with that inner calm that fewer and fewer of us manage to find. We believe true rest isn’t hidden in crowded programs, but in simple moments lived with attention and presence.

Our goal is to offer a place where every detail was born out of care and love—a place where, at last, you can truly breathe.

Attractions in Sovata

Sovata, the pearl of the Salt Region, with varied landscapes and a rich history, offers a magical experience. From Salt & Soul Villa, the town and its surroundings are within easy reach, with numerous sights to visit.

Natural attractions

Bear Lake: a unique heliothermal lake in Europe whose temperature is maintained by the interaction between the fresh-water layer and the saline layer. Its shape resembles a stretched bear skin, hence the name.
Aluniș Lake: a quieter salt lake near Bear Lake, with therapeutic water and a peaceful shore.
Black Lake: the oldest lake in Sovata; its shore has a bathing area and salty mud ideal for therapeutic baths.
Tivoli Lake: a man-made, fresh-water lake with benches and promenades, recommended mainly for fishing and leisurely walks.
Salt Eco-Didactic Trail & Salt Mountain: a thematic route about the history of salt exploitation and the area’s salt formations; the microclimate of the salt mountain contributed to the formation of the therapeutic lakes.
Red, Green, Mierlei and Paraschiva Lakes: small salt lakes named after their color or shape. Paraschiva Lake is fresh water; each makes an excellent destination for a walk.

Holy Trinity Church: imposing Neo-Gothic Catholic church with an Angster organ.
Reformed Church: sober building with a prominent tower from the interwar period.
Orthodox Church: Byzantine-style church built in 1991, with gilded domes and rich frescoes.
Greek Catholic (now Orthodox) Chapel: 1932 wooden chapel located 300 m from Bear Lake; initially Greek Catholic, now hosts Orthodox services.
Unitarian Church: building with minimalist design and bright interiors, a symbol of religious freedom.
Sacred Heart of Jesus Chapel and Our Lady Chapel: picturesque, charming chapels in the resort and on Căpâlna Hill.
Historic villas: Secession-style holiday villas on Trandafirilor Street and throughout the resort, testimonies to the elegance of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.
Statues, obelisks and memorial plaques: busts of Sándor Petőfi and Áron Márton, a World War I obelisk, the 1848 soldier monument and the Orbán Balázs plaque—all in the town center.

Trandafirilor Street: the main promenade lined with flowers, historic villas and cafés.
Promenades and parks: the West and East Promenades along the lakes, as well as the central parks and Bear Lake Park with statues and fountains.
Mocănița: nostalgic steam train through the hills of the Salt Region, a 14 km forest route to Vármező.
Amenus Equestrian Center: horse riding, archery, pony and farm-animal petting, picnic area.
Adrenalin Plus Adventure Park Sovata: adventure park with two rope courses for children and two for adults, a 400 m zipline over Tivoli Lake, safety equipment included in the price; summer season, weather permitting, daily 11:00–17:00.
Events: Sovata Days, Bear Lake Days, Christmas Fair, ski competitions, open-air theatre and folk ensemble performances.
